GEA Kill Systems are used in the Biotech industry for collection of microbiological active waste, followed by cell inactivation prior to industrial waste water treatment.

Design depends on micro-organisms and required bio containment, waste duties, available utilities and space. Usual methods for kill systems are:

  • Heat Batch Sterilisation - Kill System with indirect or direct steam ejector-recirculation
  • Heat Continuous Sterilisation - Kill System with indirect or direct steam injection
  • Chemical Batch Sterilisation - Kill System with caustic or sterilant injection.

Heat economisers / recovery can be planned and integrated into Heat Continuous Sterilisation Kill System for better energy efficiency.

If cell lysing and downstream processing are the objective, GEA cell rupture systems can be applied with many advantages over traditional lysing methods.

IQ and OQ are tailored to the user requirements. GEA can support the user with PQ.
