When juice concentrates of the highest quality are required, freeze concentration is the process of choice. GEA Niro PT invented, commercialized and further developed this leading edge technology over the last decades. No other concentration processes can obtain the outstanding product qualities which are achievable with the GEA Niro PT technology.

The very gentle concentration at sub-zero temperatures allows product freshness to be maintained and prevents biological degradation to occur. Since no vapour phase is present all volatile aromas will be preserved in the concentrates.

Alternatively many juices can be dried to a powder as a flavour product where the concentrated juices or single strength juices are mixed into a flavour base made from e.g. maltodextrin, sugar and gum arabic. The reconstituted powders with this recipe are not real 'juices' however, they are called nectar. These powders can often be dried on conventional spray dryers, multistage dryers, or the FILTERMAT®.
