Aseptic Spray Dryer
Aseptic Spray Dryer

The development of the Aseptic Spray Dryer by GEA Niro has major implications for vaccine production.

Traditionally vaccines are made in a batch process, using freeze drying often taking several days to process a single batch.  By means of spray drying the process operates continuously until the desired quantity of formulated feed has been converted into a dry powder.

In the spray drying process the liquid feed is converted into powder in a fraction of a second, often under very lenient conditions, making it ideal for heat sensitive materials.  The development of the aseptic spray dryer type ASD by GEA Niro is the first in the World to be made suitable for vaccines.
