Steam Jet Vacuum Pumps employ a number steam jet ejectors, connected in series, to achieve vacuum down to a minimum 0.01 mbar abs. Between each successive ejector stage, condensers are employed to remove consensibles from the process, together with motive steam from the previous stage, to reduce the required size of each stage as they then need only to be designed to compress the concondensible fraction of the suction medium. These condensers may be either direct contact, mixing-type condensers or indirect contact surface condensers. Another option is to use Steam Jet Ejectors, in conjunction with a Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump, which is especially useful for non-barometric installation. Steam jet vacuum pumps can be manufactured from a range of materials of construction and in the GEA Wiegand scope of supply are included units of corrosion resistance materials, either completely ceramic, with spray condensers, or with graphite block surface condensers.
